Brian Chikami | Financial Coach

I’ll be honest with you, growing up I often felt lost when it came to money. Financial literacy wasn’t a topic that was discussed in my home, and as I transitioned into early adulthood, I struggled to navigate my own personal finances. I took on multiple credit cards, loans and cars on finance thinking it was normal and that’s what everyone did.

It wasn’t until I was well into my career that I began to understand how to manage my money effectively. That sparked a passion in me: I wanted to help others avoid the same confusion I faced.

Having worked in personal finance over 10 plus years, I’ve witnessed firsthand the financial struggles people endure. I’ve seen families from all walks of life trying to make ends meet, feeling the weight of debt, and worrying about how to provide for their children. It’s heartbreaking, and it ignited a determination in me to make a difference.

That’s why I founded Father Figures. I wanted to create a space where dads could learn not just about budgeting and saving, but also about the emotional side of finances—how money impacts our lives and our families. I believe that financial wellbeing is a vital part of being a good father, and I’m passionate about helping other dads build healthier relationships with money.

In our community, we strive to connect with each father, and many of them feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities. I share my own experiences and encourage them to open up about their struggles and fears. We learn together, celebrating each other’s victories, no matter how small.

Watching the transformation in these fathers has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Dads who once felt hopeless are now taking charge of their financial futures. They’re learning to manage their debts, set realistic goals, and even plan for their dream homes. Each success story is a step toward breaking the cycle of financial stress for their children.

Through Father Figures, I’m not just teaching financial literacy; I’m offering hope and guidance. In a world that often complicates personal finance, I’m dedicated to simplifying it one dad at a time.
